First day off to work, together

First day we head off to work together

My sister, Shinmu and I were supposed to travel the metro together, the same platform and train. I was very excited to travel together. I would get off at Karwan Bazar and Shinmu at Agargaon.
We ran, the train was almost here. Checked off security and ran till our body could endure. I warned her to not hurry, we might be late but squashed by the public is not what she wants.

The female coach was way up at the front, she ran. She called me. I was left behind. I knew the limitation of my body or how the capacity would not be able to manage time. I got on the nearest possible coach. She had got on too. I waited till the train left to check if the platform was indeed empty. It was.

My heart sank. This felt very metaphorical and I could not bear the separation, when I thought we would travel hand in hand. I was disappointed she didn’t wait for me or get on with me. But more than that, I was glad she got on the train. Perhaps, I did not want her to get on with me whilst overlooking her aspirations. I am happy she got on her desired coach and would head to the destination, even if it meant us separating. She has always been headstrong and I honestly admire this stern quality of hers.

I got down on my platform. Hers came later. I was running late for work so ran, again, till my body could endure. Reached on time.

3 missed calls and an incoming call later, Shinmu asks me “Where are you? I have been waiting at the station. I thought you missed the previous train”. She had been waiting on the Karwan Bazar platform for 10-15 minutes because she was afraid I was left behind. I laughed, just when I thought my sister would not look back, she did. This time, I slipped away. But I was elated she cared and was willing to wait for me too. Reminded her to let me know after she reached. Headstrong yes, but bound by sisterly love. Both of us are very ambitious, but we also look back to check if the other person got on the train/platform or not.

Oh, this worldly love!
